An Oil Spill in the Sea of Democracy.  An essay I wrote in 2004 that describes our country's "New" Manifest Destiny.  I intended it to be provocative, controversial and scary.  It forecasts ill things to come.  Tell me what you think of it now.

How Could You Know.  I found this poem scrawled in chalk on a sidewalk in San Diego.  I added the picture of young Mike to it.

Church Door.  I created an assemblage art piece - a church door - that is 9 feet tall and 4 feet wide.  The door represents certain feelings I had regarding spirituality at the time of its construction .  The letter that I wrote to my friend John Holman and posted here describes those feelings.

Thanksgiving Psalms.  Over the years, I've read translations of the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Here is a sample of some of the beautiful writing found in these Scrolls.

Lockerbie, Scotland.  The terrorist bombing of Flight 007 was a barbaric and cowardly act, exposing the worst in human nature.  I used a combination of poetry and prose to describe the depravity of terrorism.  The misogyny and pornographic passages are devices that amplify and color my revulsion regarding this particular act of terrorism.
